First, we drove 6 hours from Dodge City, KS, to Denver. We stopped by the Colorado border for lunch at Subway. Once we got to Denver we met with Tom Mauser, whose son was killed in Columbine. He advocated for gun control. He spoke about the laws formed in Colorado that helped to enforce gun control such as the removal of the gun show loophole and the mandation of background checks for all gun sales. Personally, I am all in favor of a person’s right to bear arms, however I did agree with most of his points especially the laws that were created in Colorado. However, I think that everyone has the right to have a gun but that does not mean everyone should have a gun. I do strongly believe in a person’s choice to hunt for sport and food, as well as shooting ranges.
After meeting with Mauser we walked to the Columbine memorial.
It was riveting and I really felt moved by the quotes on the wall. After that we went to the 16th st mall for dinner. Following, we were supposed to go to an amusement park but it was closed due to weather so we went back to the hotel for free time.
