However, in the morning we checked out an area on the upper west side where the Audubon Society and Gitler Gallery paired up to put up murals all along shop grates and the sides of buildings portraying the over 300 endangered bird species that came out on the 2014 Audubon Society Report.
This project illustrated one of the major themes of our trip which is connectedness and the use of art to spread a message and create change. On each of the murals there was a url link that you could check out on your phone to read up on that particular species of bird portrayed in the mural.
